When I
first went in to breeding the Colourpointed I was always driven by the seals, I
had a real passion for these wonderful cats, they where huge impressive and I
loved the colour of their coats.

I bred around
5 litters of the wonderful seal, but sadly they all went as pets despite
people wanting them for breeding, the general attitude on the show bench
was that the seal colourpointed had too much shading and as they where judged in
the same classes and in competition with the other colourpointed, lilac, blue,
chocolate, they very rarely got placed, yet they where mostly of far better type
bone and eye colour, than most of the competition, but although shading is
allowed in the standard of the Seal they where heavily penalised. but in effect
the seal is a black cat, and so you would expect it to be shaded, but with out
the seal we have lost within the British Colourpoint the fabulous blue eye
colour, in league with the Siamese in some of the older seal cats.
Here soon
will be some
pictures of some seal kittens bred by me in around 1998, unfortunately
people just didn't send photos of these wonderful kittens as they grew up... and
I didn't see them grow but maybe if you see this page you could now send me
some??
I do intend in 2008/2009 to breed seals again, and try once again to get this wonderful colour back on the show bench.
My next colour of course was the Chocolate,
both in self and Colourpointed, again a colour
that can shade in the colourpointed, but not as
heavily penalised, I prefer the lighter shade of
chocolate not the dark bitter almost black
chocolate that is sometimes seen, and the
chocolate that you can get from a cinnamon mating
is wonderful colour
I shall as always continue with the chocolates for
the last few years I have been breeding the
Lilacs, because I needed to keep cats back for
further use in the breed programme of both
chocolate and Cinnamon.
I
love all my cats but Lilac and fawn are not my
colours, but to a breed programme they are a
necessity
