BADSWORTH  is  registered with the following cat associations GCCF/UK, TICA, NEOCATS Nederland

All cats that are featured on this site at the top of each page have either been bred by us or are owned by us.

We are a HCM- PKD - PL -FIP - FELV- FIV  free cattery

Our cats have a choice of where they want to be, we seem to think as owners we know what's best for them but we don't, all of my cats can come in to the house all of the time, but most of them actually prefer to go outside in their protected run, some cats prefer to sit huddled up on the radiator beds and the thought of going out side would put them in to a tizzy, as is with Leyla and her Mother Nefertiti, but some cats actually, "when we are sat huddled up in front of the television covered in a blanket  because its either snowing or - 5 outside" are chasing each other around playing and totally at ease with the cold and snow.. we don't lock our cats away at night, as most of my boys are very quiet and they actually prefer to sit outside during the evening and sometimes all through the night they are not stupid they know when its finally become too cold and then they will take themselves inside, but then some actually come in the house at night as they are clean they don't spray and like to watch Television with us.

Jinx one of my Abyssinians positively hates it in the house ,prowling around like a caged lion and I have a big house and plenty or room for her but she misses her friends, and watching the world go by.

So  much as I would love to have her in the house she does not like it and I am only here to make her happy!!

All of our cats are pets first and breeders second, they all have pet names and they all answer to them.

We only allow our girls to have one litter per year, and or 2 litters in 3 years, but in most cases they have 2 litters in 4 years. My cats welfare is very important as is rearing their kittens, to rear kittens to be friendly, outgoing, clean and well adjusted, you have to take time and patience and lots of money

Our Stud boys are all at Closed Stud, this is not because I wish to keep all I have to my self, this is because I do not want to bring in infection to my home, although there are specific tests for FIV  and FELV, there are not tests for fleas, worms, ringworm, cat flu, Chlamydia etc.

We do  however sell cats to responsible, dedicated breeders whom are interested in both the breed standard and good health in the line.

With the newer colours like Cinnamon in the British Shorthairs and Chocolate in the Abyssinian, we will not sell a breeding cat just because you like the colour, many breeders, my self included have worked many years producing these colours and so these colours will only be sold to breeders that wish to progress further with these colours using their own breed lines.

.

There are many helpful pages around my website to help new owners and new Breeders, I am always available for advice and information.

Before you go in to buy a pedigree cat please find out through the internet or books all you can on that breed as not all cat breeds are suitable for every home, Badsworthcats are reared in the house they are used to a very busy and noisy life and are well handled and socialised.

Kittens when they go to their new home, should be gradually introduced to other pets, because this is the time when they are at their most vulnerable, if you happy, healthy, previously owned cat shows symptoms of illness a few days after the arrival of the new kitten, it can be that your cat was already feeling a little under the weather and so consequently the arrival of the new and very spoiled addition, will bring out some symptoms. this of course may lead to your new Kitten becoming a little poorly.

Badsworth Kittens are Health checked thoroughly before they leave us, and we hope that when our kittens do arrive in their new home that all goes well for you and them, but sometimes no matter how careful and healthy the kitten is, they can become ill in all cases not just when you take them home but for the Future we recommend that all pedigree kittens are insured with Pet plan pet insurance www.petplan.nl, this will in the future for just a small amount a month ensure that your cat can always receive the best medical treatment.  Due to the fact that we live in Germany and most of our babies are sold in Holland we cant offer this service though we would like to but we are currently looking in to Pet plan insurance for all kittens that leave our home.

Always do as the breeder asks when you take the kitten home dont just start to feed a new kind of food and dont just change the litter the kitten has been used to.. this will confuse it and also if given the wrong type of food may make it sick.

Badsworth cats come with a sample of the food they have been reared on plus a sample of the litter they have used, introduction of new food and litter should be done gradually.

GOOD POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN CHOOSING YOUR KITTEN

Never choose a kitten that is hiding and or sleeping a lot, there may be an underlying problem here! Always just sit down and let the kitten come to you, in most cases the kitten will choose you as their new owner, all cats are not suitable for all homes including litter mates, you can get a full litter of kittens all reared in exactly the same way but one of them is very shy and really would prefer it if you dont pick he or she up!

This kitten then would not be happy living in a busy household with lots of Noise, he or she may prefer a retired or young couple who would love a happy, healthy, loving kitten and who have the time to let this kitten come to them..

All Kittens have their own different purrsonalities, and we like to have our breeds all reared together, so Mainecoons running with Abyssinians and British shorthairs all at the same time is a possibility here at Badsworth, our cats all compliment each other and get on well together, so if you have previously stuck to one breed in the past, just come and watch our kittens and see how well the playful they can be together, Watch as the mischievous Abyssinian runs rings around the more laid back British Shorthair and or Mainecoon... we have hours of fun watching them. Or the Huge Mainecoons plays cat and mouse games with the Abyssinian pinning it down to the floor... thinking it has caught its prey.... then watch as that Abyssinian, gets away like Houdini...

Visits are always welcome, even if you are not currently searching for a new kitten but are intending to in the future.

We love to show off our wonderful cats and are very proud of them.  We would welcome you to our home.

This would also give you the opportunity to see several breeds of cats living together which may also help you make the right choice for you

Every prospective person so far that has visited us with the intention of buying one of our Kittens, has indeed bought one of our kittens,  we have been very lucky as some have come back later for another kitten and some have recommended us to their friends and family.

We have one lovely lady and her Husband,  who came all the way from Zeeland which is a considerable drive for a British Blue, she then came back the following Year when the mother of the one she already had, had some more babies, Blues again! all three live in her happy, busy, home with other cats and dogs...

This is why we at Badsworth chose to have our cats and over the years we have met and made true friends of many New Owners.
